Monochromatic for the win!

Monochromatic colors are all the colors of a single hue. Monochromatic color schemes are derived from a single base hue and extended using its shades, tones and tints. Tints are achieved by adding white and shades and tones are achieved by adding a darker color, grey or black, so explains Wikipedia. I never really cared for a "monochromatic" color scheme in floral arrangements until last year. You can say that perhaps I am now obsessed.

When I think of monochromatic my mind automatically goes to shades of white! Which I love, but if we add a darker color to white, a whole world opens up! I like to add a warm color, so the shade moves from white, to cream, to beige, to pink, or sometimes adding metallic colors is fun too. I also like to create my designs from left to right, because that's how our mind naturally flows, you know, like reading left to right.

Or you can use color for your monochromatic look too. Either way, this is my current way of designing and choosing flowers for my creations. I still love a bright color combo with contrasting colors, but I'm having fun with all things monochromatic at the moment!
